AI Policy

A Human-Centred, Rights-Based Approach to Artificial Intelligence in Learning

  1. Purpose and Global Alignment

This Ethical AI Charter defines our commitment to the responsible, ethical, and human-centred use of Artificial Intelligence in education. It guides how AI technologies are designed, implemented, and governed within our educational tools, platforms, and services.

Our approach is informed by internationally recognised frameworks, including UNESCO’s Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence and UNESCO’s guidance on AI and the protection of learners’ rights. These global principles shape our dedication to equity, transparency, inclusion, and the fundamental right to quality education.

  1. Human-Centred AI in Education

We believe that AI must support educators and learners, not replace them.
All AI systems we develop are designed to:

  • Strengthen teacher autonomy and professional judgement
  • Enhance student learning experiences
  • Preserve the human values of empathy, creativity, and critical thinking

Education remains a deeply human endeavour, and AI serves as an assistive tool AND not an authority.

  1. Equity, Inclusion, and Fair Access

Ethical AI in education must work for all learners, regardless of background or geography.
We are committed to:

  • Reducing digital and educational inequalities
  • Preventing algorithmic bias and discrimination
  • Supporting diverse learning needs, languages, and contexts

Our AI systems are continuously reviewed to ensure fairness, inclusivity, and accessibility, especially for underserved and marginalised communities.

  1. Learner Rights, Privacy, and Data Protection

Protecting learners’ rights is central to our ethical framework.
We uphold strict standards for:

  • Data privacy and protection
  • Minimal and purpose-driven data collection
  • Secure storage and responsible data usage

Personal data is never sold or exploited. All use of data aligns with ethical norms, child protection principles, and global best practices for AI governance in education.

  1. Transparency and Explainable AI

We commit to transparency in how AI systems operate within educational settings.
This includes:

  • Clear communication when AI tools are in use
  • Explainable outputs and recommendations
  • The ability for educators and institutions to question, override, or review AI-generated insights

We actively avoid opaque or “black-box” decision-making that undermines trust or accountability.

  1. Safety, Well-Being, and Responsible Use

AI must contribute to safe, supportive, and healthy learning environments.
Our systems are designed to:

  • Minimise exposure to harmful or misleading content
  • Support academic integrity and ethical use
  • Promote learner well-being and positive digital habits

Student safety and emotional health always take priority over automation or efficiency.

  1. Accountability and Ethical Governance

We take full responsibility for the impact of our AI systems.
Our governance model includes:

  • Continuous monitoring and ethical review
  • Mechanisms for reporting concerns or misuse
  • Timely correction of errors or unintended outcomes

Ethical oversight is embedded across the AI lifecycle—from design to deployment.

  1. Responsible Innovation and Continuous Improvement

AI and education are constantly evolving.
We commit to:

  • Ongoing research and evaluation
  • Regular updates aligned with emerging ethical standards
  • Learning from educators, learners, and global best practices

Innovation is meaningful only when it advances learning without compromising dignity, rights, or trust.

  1. Partnership with Educators and Learners

Ethical AI is a shared responsibility.
We actively engage with:

  • Teachers and school leaders
  • Learners and parents
  • Educational researchers and practitioners

Feedback, co-creation, and contextual understanding guide how our tools evolve across different educational environments.

  1. Commitment to the Right to Education

All AI systems we build are grounded in the belief that every child has a right to quality, inclusive, and equitable education.
We oppose any use of AI that limits access, reinforces inequality, or undermines learner autonomy.

Our work aligns with global efforts to ensure that AI strengthens education systems rather than replacing their human foundations.

This Ethical AI Charter reflects our belief that technology must serve humanity.
Guided by UNESCO-informed principles and a strong ethical foundation, we commit to building AI solutions that:

  • Empower educators
  • Protect learners
  • Promote fairness and inclusion
  • Uphold the integrity of education

Ethical AI is not an add-on. It is the foundation of sustainable, trustworthy, and future-ready learning.

This charter is informed by the UNESCO Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence (2021) and UNESCO’s guidance on AI and education. Reference does not imply endorsement.
